Along the Rhine river

From Arnhem to Utrecht

Follow the curves of the Rhine River to Utrecht. You will find many castles and prehistoric fortifications along the way. Visit Doortwerth Castle, is it really hunted...?

The road takes you over the dike following the river. The small ferry brings you to the other side at the entrance of nature park ‘Blaauwe Kamer'. See Galloway cattle, Konik horses and many different birds.

The first day you end in Wageningen, where in 1945 the German capitulation has been signed. A vibrant city.

Next morning you visit the fruit barn of the Netherlands, the Betuwe. Apples, pears, strawberries everywhere! Right between the fruit orchards you bring a visit to the small village of Inge to see the local corn mill.

The friendly small city of Wijk bij Duurstede will charm you with its castle/ruin, drive-through mill and old lovely streets with art-galleries.

After lunch, it is time to get active. By canoe, you follow the ‘Kromme Rijn' (Curved Rhine) downstream to Utrecht. Float underneath bridges, passing castles & mansions. Enjoy the landscape in an active but relaxed way.
